The end of another year is quickly approaching…not only a year, but an entire decade is about to become ancient history. But before turning the calendar to 2020, the Traina family offers some tips for celebrating New Year’s Eve with the whole family.
Serve Casual Eats — When hosting a party for people of all ages (including some that may not stay awake until midnight!), serving a casual “help yourself” style meal or array of appetizers is an easy way to ensure everyone gets fed when they are ready, and also takes pressure off the host to constantly be in the kitchen. Crockpot dishes are ideal for this type of party, as well as foods that can sit out for longer periods of time. The Traina family offers endless recipes and menu inspiration here.
Get into the Spirit — Party stores, discount stores and even dollar stores are loaded up with fun props for New Year’s Eve bashes. From props for makeshift photo booths such as hats, silly glasses and more to noisemakers, horns, light-up accessories, there is no limit to the fun ways to get into the spirit this New Year’s Eve.
Create a “Noon Year’s Eve” for Little Ones — For young ones who will be tucked in bed long before midnight on December 31, host a mini “Noon Year’s Eve” party with age-appropriate games, music, a countdown and light up sticks versus fireworks. Don’t forget a sparkling apple cider toast at noon!
Be Wary of Fireworks — Fireworks can be a lot of fun, but they can also be very frightening for little ones. Before attending a fireworks show or lighting any off in the backyard, gauge the group to make sure the fete doesn’t become a source of fear for any children (or pets for that matter!).
Get Moving — Turn up the music and get the crowd up on their feet! It’s time to move, boogey, dance and jitterbug into the New Year! Prior to the event, enlist help from the teens to create a perfect New Year’s play list to keep the vibe going strong all night long!
Raise a Glass — The countdown is on! It’s finally time to say goodbye to 2019 and hello to a New Year, a new decade and a new start! But before that, raise a glass of bubbly, sparkling water, apple juice or water and toast to friends, family, loved ones, memories, good times and even the challenging ones — all the things that made 2019 what it was!
The Traina family sends their warmest wishes for a safe and happy New Year!
